Lunch on a Sunday Outside of Mesquite, NV

We love Mesquite, NV. Every once in a while we decide we will take a short trip through the Virgin River Gorge or up Old Highway 91 to St. George, We like to visit some of our favorite stores and purchase bagels at Einstein Bros. Of course a trip to St. George wouldn't be complete without trying one of the many new restaurants in town.

Today we decided to visit Ryan Reber at his new place of employment, George's Corner restaurant. What a treat! The restaurant is located in Ancestor Square (also home to Benja Thai but we will save that for another day!).

George's is owned by the same folks who own the gourmet restaurant Painted Pony. George's has an incredible comfort food menu and an extensive beverage (both with and without alcohol). ,

We stared with chips and homemade salsa and guacamole--delish! Both were seasoned perfectly.

Neil always gets chicken noodle soup when he sees it on a menu. The soup had lots of ingredients but just a tad bland. I started with the green salad--spring greens, candied pecans, finely sliced pears, and a tangy creamy red wine vinaigarette--YUMMY!

Ryan suggested trying the ribs. Never one to say no to good ribs I tried them. There was close to a full rack on the plate. I had it with french fries---thin with parsley. There was an order of hush puppies served with this meal. They were interesting with a touch of cilantro mixed in.

Neil had the short ribs with bow tie pasta. It had vegetables and chunks of tender short ribs. Tasted a little like beef stew. This would be a great meal on a cold, windy day. A little too filling when it is 104 degrees outside--LOL.

The dessert menu looked delicious but we were too full to try it.
